It would make a great furnishing piece for a classic country-style bedroom – especially if dressed with a vintage quilt and throws in floral chintz and satin fabrics. But there’s a practical side to Madrid. The sprung mattress base can be easily lifted at the foot end to reveal a deep storage space that’s designed to accommodate quilts, cushions and extra bedding – or whatever needs to be stashed away out of sight.
